SGJ bowl, small
A striking example of mid-century Scandinavian minimalism, this dark ash wood and stainless steel bowl, designed originally in 1961, relies totally on its sculptural form, the contrast between materials and its superb craftsmanship. No further decoration is deemed necessary in an object that celebrates purity, restraint and sophistication.
As the son of the original Georg Jensen, Søren Georg was always likely to follow in his father’s footsteps and follow a career in artistic design. His early training as a sculptor is very apparent in the pieces he created for his father’s company - they are all characterised by perfect proportions and a strong presence and have truly lasted the test of time.
The small bowl is beautifully crafted from dark ash wood set on a mirror-polished stainless steel plinth.
