Hosting with Laszlo Badet

Welcoming people into your space is a gift in itself. Through the lens of Paris-based Swiss cook Laszlo Badet, we explore how hosting can become a precious form of giving.

“I love showing friends different things – from the produce I cook with to the table setting and art pieces. Sharing these moments means more to me than anything.”

On the menu

For Laszlo, cooking is an art approached with creativity. She prepared a menu of seasonal specialities paired with ingredients from her home country, including Tête de Moine cheese and red wine–poached pears. Each dish is served on a table set that pairs sterling silver and white porcelain, including Bernadotte plates with grooved rims and Georg Jensen silver cutlery with beaded contours.

Laszlo’s to-dos

“I rehearse a meal in my head to make sure that guests always have everything they need,” says Laszlo. Her approach is shaped by her upbringing in Switzerland and a personal passion for giving back to friends with a home-cooked seasonal meal. “My grandmother was a good example – she always paid attention to writing an invitation and cooking something that suited the season or the occasion,” she says. “In French, you can call it savoir-faire or savoir-vivre.”

Dressing the part

As host, Laszlo pairs her personal jewellery selection with a pared-back look: 18kt gold Mercy earrings, a 18kt gold Offspring brooch, and the Orb chain – one of five silver accessories that double as both keychains and wearables, each inspired by the art movements that have shaped Georg Jensen's history.

In the details

It’s often the smaller touches in Laszlo’s setting that make all the difference: from oranges studded with cloves and wrapped in white ribbon to a cone-shaped butter served in a sterling silver bowl. Each element is carefully considered to create a unique setting.
