TINA LEUNG’S DIARY OF ART BASEL AND DESIGN MIAMI 2015
Global blogger Tina Leung dives into the Art & Design trenches with her diary while wearing Fall Winter’s ARIA Collection.

"My Design Miami and Art Basel Debut!

It’s the 10th year anniversary of Design Miami… What better reason than that for me to fly down and experience all there is on offer? That and, of course, the great weather. Fashion and art goes hand in hand and there’s no better place to take it all in than right here right now.

I was able to take a preview of the big white tent at Design Miami, which included exhibition booths by Peter Marino, Fendi, and Zaha Hadid. After the tour, which included a gorgeous myriad of mid-century furniture and design galleries showcasing their best offerings, I decided to have a little photo shoot in a few of my favorite ones. The Patrick Parrish Gallery was the perfect showcase for the new Aria collection, as all of the furniture and sculptures were cast iron steel, providing a stunning contrast to the geometry of the silver jewelry. I popped into Nilufar, an Italian gallery that had the craziest pop art pieces. The Gallery Diet featured the work of Miami artist Emmett Moore, incredibly contemporary and would look perfect in my apartment of course!

Naturally, I listened to the Georg Jensen conversation in the Collector's Lounge, between the sweet author of Reflections, Murray Moss, and Design Miami’s Rodman Primack discussing why us human beings fall so in love with inanimate objects and whether 'art can serve fish'. I can't say it's a question I've ever asked myself, but definitely an interesting one to ponder!

It's been a wonderful madcap whirlwind of art, design, dinners, parties and pure Miami heat. I am absolutely hooked! You’ll know where to find me this time next year!!"
